John Balkhi brings a unique blend of corporate insight, entrepreneurial grit, and franchise expertise to his role as a FranChoice Consultant. With a degree in Business Economics and early success as a Central Nervous System consultant in the pharmaceutical industry, John realized that corporate America couldn’t offer the freedom or fulfillment he was seeking. That insight launched a 20+ year journey into business ownership—and multiple successful exits.

In 2003, John launched a real estate investment company focused on residential property flipping, eventually expanding into mortgage and brokerage through his own boutique firm. As markets shifted, he diversified again—this time into franchising.

In 2007, John acquired a single-unit license for a leading tax preparation franchise. Over the next nine years, he scaled to 20 locations, consistently ranking in the top 1% nationally and earning multiple achievement awards. He later became a managing partner in a second franchise concept, and eventually took on a Master Franchise development role overseeing territories across Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties—a venture from which he successfully exited.

Through both wins and challenges, John has gained firsthand experience in what it truly takes to build, scale, and transition out of businesses. Clients working with John appreciate that he’s “walked the talk.” He doesn’t just guide people to franchise opportunities—he helps them avoid common pitfalls, ask better questions, and build with the end in mind.
Today, John draws from his journey to help aspiring entrepreneurs identify business models that align with their goals, values, and lifestyle. He believes franchising offers a structured path to ownership for those ready to execute, without the isolation and uncertainty of building from scratch.

John lives in San Juan Capistrano, California, with his wife Erica and their three children—Sophia, Adam, and Nico—plus two energetic Golden Doodles, Bella and Sammie. The Balkhi family loves traveling, entertaining, and supporting nonprofit organizations that make a difference in the lives of others.
