I studied business management in college along with computer science. My first job was as a computer programmer on an IBM AS400 writing in RPG. That may be foreign to you, but I put my heart and soul into that job working 70-80 hours per week. Wow – all that work and I barely saw my wife and daughter for the 1st year of her life. That was too many hours. I needed to find something where I could spend more time with my family and make good money. So naturally I bought a franchise. I purchased a Chem Dry franchise, which had 4,000 franchises in the US; within the first 2 years I became one of the 20 largest franchisees and a member of the ‘Presidents Club’.

Being in the industry, I learned about water damage cleanup and decided to start my own company since Chem Dry was not in the water damage business. I grew this company to over $6 million in sales with 50 full time employees and a 35,000 square foot building. This was great, but I was losing national contracts to franchises, and after 28 successful years in business, I decided to sell.
