Meg Schmitz

Pairing 25+ years of experience as a multi-unit owner and consultant with a passion for helping others find the career of their dreams, Meg Schmitz brings enthusiasm and organization to the process of navigating the maze of franchise ownership. As a FranChoice consultant, she works with budding entrepreneurs to match them with the perfect franchise investments suited to their talents, interests and financial needs.

Meg’s deep knowledge of franchising started in the 1990s, when she opened the first of five Great Clips salons in the Chicago area. As the president of the Chicago area owners’ co-op and liaison to corporate executive staff, Meg saw how others struggled because they bought a franchise that wasn’t the best fit. Now, after 16 years as a franchise consultant, Meg has helped hundreds of individuals and investor groups determine whether business ownership, especially franchising, is the right vehicle for their personal and financial success.

An additional perspective Meg brings, and shares with her husband, is their personal investments in entrepreneurial start-ups. With a portfolio of more than 40 companies, they see everything from incubator start-ups to mature concepts looking to franchising for expansion. Discernment is a key to their success.

With a degree in Counseling Psychology, work as a certified Mediator and hospice volunteer, and years of investment experience, Meg is attuned to the importance of asking the right questions and listening. Soliciting honest introspection allows her candidates to hone their questions and concerns about business ownership into a refined investigation to match them with the best business opportunity.

When Meg isn’t guiding prospective franchise placements, hosting networking events or providing career advice, you can find her spending time with her family and friends in the great outdoors. Meg is dedicated to furthering the missions of JourneyCare, Hoo’s Woods Raptor Center, Tallgrass Restoration, ENACTUS, and other various community organizations and conservation groups she proudly supports.
