THE FRANCHISOR, AND ANY
PARENTS, PREDECESSORS AND AFFILIATES
To simplify the language in
this Disclosure Document, "OPHF" means The Original Pancake House
Franchising, Inc., the franchisor. "You" means the person who buys
the franchise. OPHF is an Oregon Corporation that was incorporated on February
26, 1991. OPHF does not do business or intend to do business under another
name. Our principal address is 8601 S.W. 24th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97219. OPHF''s agent for service of process is Corporations Commission, State of Oregon, Commerce Building, Salem, Oregon 97310.
OPHF, which has been
franchising businesses of the type to be operated by you since its formation,
grants franchises to own and operate a The Original Pancake House� Restaurant
at a specific location, specializing in pancakes, waffles, omelets and similar
food products and related services for consumer consumption on the restaurant
premises and for take out. In some cases OPHF also grants franchisees who enter
into multiple franchises the exclusive option to enter into additional
franchises to own and operate The Original Pancake House� Restaurants in a
specific area. OPHF does not currently operate a business of the type to be
franchised, and has never conducted a business of the type to be operated by
the franchisee, but is affiliated with The Original Pancake House Restaurant,
Inc., which has not offered and does not offer franchises, but which operates a
restaurant at the same principal address as OPHF. OPHF, its affiliate, and
their predecessors have been involved in this business for 55 years and have
not offered franchises in any other line of business, or engaged in any other
business activities.
A Restaurant offers a variety of food products and
services for sale to the general public for consumption on the Restaurant''s
premises and for takeout. You will have to compete with other full-service and
carry-out pancake, waffle, omelet and breakfast restaurants, some of which are
national or regional chains. You also will have to compete with other
restaurants, diners and fast food outlets offering similar types of food
products in_mismbroadly^de^lgr^ed_
The restaurant industry is
governed by health laws and regulations concerning the preparation,
storage and service of food products. You should investigate the matter
further.
